Newest Book Review! Author: Noelle W. Ihli (I Rated this book a 4.8 Stars)

Quick Summary:

Another gripping psychological Thriller that blends the ingredients of suspense, grief and revenge with a chilling supernatural twist. I enjoy how Noelle W. Ihli crafts a fast-paced, emotionally intense narrative centered around three key women– Meghan, Brecia and Skye. All three women murdered by the hands of the same man. However, death is not the end of their story. Not even close!

The story is told through alternating perspectives, the novel immerses readers in the victims’ post-mortem experience, where they grapple with their unfinished business and search for justice. Ihli’s portrayal of female rage and sisterhood is not only raw, but compelling. She gives a voice to those who are too often silenced instead of vindicated. The writing is accessible, yet evocative, and the short chapters help to maintain a brisk page-turning momentum!

I believe what sets Ask for Andrea apart from various other thriller reads is the premise of implementing true crime themes in combination of a ghost story theme. It’s not simply just a tale of vengeance; it’s a reflection on trauma, autonomy, and the power of connection, even beyond death.

While the plot demands the suspension of disbelief, the emotional authenticity of the characters grounds the narrative creating a solid foundation to the story itself.

What I Liked:

*The Unique Premise of following the victims after death. She gave them a voice and a path towards justice. For me, it flipped the true crime narrative on its head!

*All of the added perspectives of Meghan, Brecia and Skye which gave a solid foundation and depth to their humanity. Each woman felt distinct, and seeing the story through their eyes made it even more powerful, in my opinion.

*The themes of female empowerment despite the dark subject matter gave the story an empowering undertone. These women were far from passive victims but became active agents in their own story, even after their death.

*It was extremely fast-paced, and the turn of each page made it even more addictive. Yes, I binged this one on a very short sitting! It carried a suspenseful atmosphere without the addition of gore.

What Could Be Improved:

*I felt the character depth beyond the three main characters felt a bit underexplored and underdeveloped.

*The supernatural elements carried some disbelief, especially to those who prefer more grounded thrillers. This may stretch the believability of the story, but again … it is fiction.

*Some repetitiveness in the internal monologue, noticeably when the characters are processing their trauma. Tightening these could have made the pacing even sharper.

Final Thoughts:

Ask for Andrea was a truly compelling story. It is a bold and emotionally charged thriller. I love how it centered on the voices of those who are often silenced with no voice. Noelle Ihli blends psychological horror with supernatural justice in a way that feels cleansing alongside of chilling. The overall impact of the story is powerful and memorable.

It’s definitely a book that lingers after reading it. But not only the suspense of it, but the way it reclaims a narrative that’s too often told from the wrong perspective. It is fast paced, thought provoking and well-worth picking up! I would highly recommend it!
